Continuing my Cougar Town Post on Ellie's House

So I have picked out the first picture and decided to replicate the same decor style on their tall dresser chest but with my own flare and at a great cost!!

So here in this picture you see in the background the tall chest of drawers. Well I'm not using my tall chest but rather my dresser. I love my rustic wood furniture, so I'm keeping this unfinished. I painted my walls with Valspar Terra Cotta in Satin instead of the pale green. I bought these chunky candle sticks but instead white I went with a more rustic color with clear glass and a brown/black base. These were purchased at Ross for a total of $17.00. The candles are from Kohls for a total of $10.00. I added my wedding picture, my wedding bouqet, and a rose potpourri mixture from bed bath and beyond for the final touch (things that I already owned).

Awesome Dishwasher Detergent

This is for my grandad (pictured with on the right). He told me today-Kris-10 you are perfect for this blog! I bought some of those Finish tabs you told me about for my dishwasher and they work sooo great. We got to talking about dishwasher detergent one day when I was at his house because for some reason most detergents now contain some form of bleach-even Cascade. And I have these beautiful red pots and pans that got ruined and faded from using Cascade with bleach. So I tried these Finish Powerball Tablets and I absolutely love how clean my dishes come out, none faded, and no spots. And whats even better, is that they are tablets so you just open the package and place them in there no gooey liquid mess. So if you wanted to know how they worked - that was my review :)!

My Handy "Clothes Pins"

Who knew....I could not figure out for the life of my how to properly clean my table mats and then hang them to dry. I washed them once and let them sit to dry....they started growing mold under them because they were still wet....and next time I cleaned them..I thought to myself I need some clothes pins. I don't have any. Well genius me figured out to finally hang them to dry...my hangers. Just a Kris-10 idea..who knew!

Cougar Town's Ellie & Andy's House with Shabby Chic Decor

I absolutely love the decor off Cougar Town but I really adore Ellie's house and the shabby chic decor. I will tell you what I know from the images that really make these rooms-this way you can get the look too. These images come from the episodes off ABC.com's website.

Their Bedroom:
What I love about this room is the pale green walls, the white chest of drawers with contemporary hardware, the pops of coral and rose colors accented on the lamps, candles, bedding, and the roses

Here I like the white lamp-very stylish with again the pop of coral on the shade, and the bedding up close

Here is a shot of the headboard

Their Dining Area:
I love the green striped wallpaper and the topiary in the background

Here is a different green wallpaper with a victorian look and the white china cabinet

What I like here is the sheer curtains over the doors draped with a floral curtain on the sides

Their Living Area:

Here is a burst of red accent pillows on the couch

The whole room here shows the burst of colors in a clean shabby chic atmosphere

Here you can see the close up of the printed green sofa

Here the accent pillows match the main sofa

The glossy white circle coffee table is such a simple cute piece

I'm not sure what this lamp is in the background-some kind of artsy lamp

Their Kitchen Area:

Here you can see the vintage high chair in the background and the white kitchen cabinets

I love the print on the barstools and the back of them too

I know the designer of this set is Archie D'Amico

Mouse in the House

Who knew I would get a mouse in my house. I first of all...so know one thinks YUCK...."why does she have a mouse in her house"...I do live in the country. AND...I also have a quarterly pest control guy come out and he is suppose to be "treating" our home. SO the story is I was getting one of my pots out by my stove and the water line connecting from our sink pipes to the frig was leaking all over my dishes and pots in this cabinet. I thought to myself...what the h*ll!! So I took everything out of my cabinets and dried up this huge water spill and made sure to turn off the water flow going thru this pipe. Now....I had to find what the problem was. Well...it looked liked maybe it rubbed up against the wood too many times (it was old) in the cabinet, or perhaps I jammed my hardly used dusty flower vase too hard against this poor vinyl piping. It even came across my mind that my one year old, Andy perhaps grabbed a pair of scissors (I did have the cabinet opened the other day bc I have child proof locks on them) and decided to go hay wire with the pipe...who knew?! So my husband checked that night and said well it was old, not a problem, I will fix it. Then the day comes to where he was going to fix it and when he sees the pipe...it defiantly looked like something was scavenging for burried treasure...not really...just for some water. It had chewed thru the remaining end of the pipe. Well of course the pipe was previously holding water! We pulled EVERYTHING out of these bottom cabinets in search for anything alive and with teeth...my baby was no where to be found. IT had to be small and our bet was on a mouse! My husband tells me...Don't worry I will get a mouse trap tomorrow! OH NO...no messy bloody war zone is going to happen under my beautiful oak kitchen cabinets!! We had a super sticky trap left from the pest guy...why it wasn't catching this thing...I don't know, but I figured out my own solution. If the pipe is what the mouse wants then the pipe is what the mouse is going to get. I figured I will move this sticky "trap" onto the pipe and drip a couple of drops of water onto the pipe stuck to the sticky trap. AND...we caught the mouse that night!!!! BUT.....it wasn't because of my "genius" plan but of because of my luck. I went into the kitchen that night...turned on the light...and there was that d*mn thing running like the speed of light across my kitchen sink and behind my kitchen block knives. I yelled for Luis my husband and there is running like the speed of light as well behind me. The first things he sees to grab this mouse is my oven mitt...."honey, would you like my apron too?" I'm grabbing a box and asking him does he want me smash it with something...haha lol...like I would..I was trying to sound brave and supportive. He does actually catch this thing behind my spices.
After seeing this thing all I could see was cuteness from this fat tiny little mouse
I grabbed a ziploc baggy and a straw-and that was his temporary home until we figured out what to do with him now. Until we figured out he was the boys new ...pet j/k..yeah right! I was still ticked off at this thing! So we all grabbed our jackets, jumped in the truck and headed for the park-pretty good distance from our home. That way he can't find his way back to our home! He dropped this cute little mouse at the corner of the woods in the park. My husband yells out of the truck as I'm releasing it out of the baggy..."Now it's just going to be snake food!" I yelled back "well at least the snake gets to eat"! I thought to myself and at least it's better than seeing the bloody war zone as well! I knew after he saw that mouse there was no way he would have the heart to hurt that thing!

So the point to the story is no matter how clean you are...you can get a mouse in your house :)...but at least when your clean you will probably be able to find him sooner ;)

My PS3 New Years Eve Party

So PS3 recently gave me a cool house party kit to throw on New Years Eve. It was sooo cool! Let me start out by saying all the cool things they gave to use to try out and give to all my guests!! I got two free coke coupons, the Move bundle, a Shoot game, the SingStar Dance game, party hats, noisemakers, flashing neck lights, napkins, and even cups. NOW...you all are all wondering where did I get such a cool party pack? Well I read about the website a couple of months ago amazingly from the PARENTS magazine and it is called Houseparty.com . There are so many products you can try- but of course you have to apply for the party, review the products, take surveys, use their site to invite your guests, take pictures and even videos-BUT sooo worth it! I did not even make it thru the application, but they gave me another chance to be part of playstation community by blogging, taking surveys, and etc. They said I was an active member and was invited to host this awesome New Years Eve Party!! Here is a link to see the PS3 community http://www.houseparty.com/events/view/psrewards

I love to be "in the know"

I recently became a homemaker and have never ever seen the possibilites out there of so many things to try out, to win, to survey until now-all real! I have time to read my emails, read magazines, read blogs, write blogs-as of now, even thoroughly read my "junk mail". That is one thing too many people I think pass up on good opportunities-is their "junk mail". I once received a card promotion in the mail just asking me to test drive a vehicle at their dealership for a $50 gas card. Thought to myself too good too be true. Of course it wasn't- the salesman was happy to sign the paper saying I test drove one of their vehicles. A few weeks later the gift card was in the mail. Not saying everything is as good as it says it is to be, but I think there are just so many opportunites passed up. I know very well-in highschool they would announce all the time, "Hey there are so many scholarships available to apply for". The classic story....if only I knew what I knew now. I would of taken every advantage of them-I used to think..wow they wouldn't pick me for my little cr*ppy essay. But you never know right! So here I start to say to myself ...let's not wonder "you never know"...let's be in the know!

My website of the day is rubbermaid.com
They have so many Facebook promotions going on this week. So go out and be the envy of your friends and be in the know!
